Child dies after fire in Königsee district

A fire in a detached house in Unterköditz at the beginning of the week has claimed a second life. After his 71-year-old grandmother, a 13-year-old boy also died.

House fire - Child dies after fire in Königsee district

A house fire in Unterköditz (Saalfeld-Rudolstadt District) at the beginning of the week claimed a second victim. A 13-year-old boy, who had been taken to a hospital due to severe carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the fire, died there two days later, according to the police statement on Thursday. A 71-year-old woman, the resident of the single-family house and reportedly the grandmother of the boy, had already died in the fire in the Königsee district. The 35-year-old mother of the boy and two other children, who had suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning, have reportedly been discharged from the hospital.

The 35-year-old woman and the children had visited the grandmother when the incident occurred. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. According to the police, there are currently no indications of deliberate actions.

The house fire in Unterköditz, a district in Saalfeld-Rudolstadt,tragically affected a family, including children. Despite being treated at Königsee's hospital, the 13-year-old boy, a grandson, succumbed to severe carbon monoxide poisoning. The local police continue to investigate the causes of the fires in the area.
