German Basketball League - Chemnitz deals blow to Alba Berlin, threatening playoff exit.

Alba Berlin is facing elimination in the Basketball Bundesliga semi-final series after losing to the Niners Chemnitz 72:84 (37:29) in the third match of the playoff series. They are now behind 1:2 and must win Tuesday's game at the venue to keep their season alive. Johannes Thiemann and Matt Thomas scored 13 points each for Alba.

Alba started the game strongly and led for most of it. After four minutes, Chemnitz coach Rodrigo Pastore called a timeout when Alba was leading 13:4. Alba's defense was on point, making it difficult for the home team to gain momentum. With less than two minutes left in the first quarter, Chemnitz's Kevin Yebo was disqualified due to a foul on Tim Schneider.

Alba increased their lead to 16 points at the beginning of the second quarter (32:16). However, the Berliners struggled with Chemnitz defenders hounding them. They also repeatedly failed to score under the basket. This allowed Chemnitz to close the gap by half-time.

Alba's three-point shots were more successful in the third quarter, giving them a 17-point lead in the middle (56:39). But the Berliners struggled under the pressure of the hosts. With six minutes left, they found themselves behind 65:69. The Berliners then fell apart completely, barely making any shots in the final quarter. In contrast, Chemnitz played with ease and determination.
