Charges filed for precious metal theft at Aurubis
On Thursday, the Hamburg public prosecutor's office brought charges against six defendants for precious metal theft at the Hamburg copper producer Aurubis. Five defendants are accused of aggravated gang theft or commercial gang theft, another of aiding and abetting aggravated gang theft, according to the prosecution.
The value of the stolen precious metals is estimated to be significantly high, making this crime particularly noteworthy. To avoid suspicion, the thieves sold the stolen precious metals in various local markets.
