Charges against 18-year-old after homicide in Magdeburg

Crime - Charges against 18-year-old after homicide in Magdeburg

After the violent death of a 42-year-old woman and a nine-year-old in Magdeburg, the public prosecutor's office has brought charges against the 18-year-old son. According to the Magdeburg Regional Court, the opening of the main proceedings will be examined. The suspected perpetrator remains in pre-trial detention.

According to the Regional Court, the public prosecutor is accusing the 18-year-old of double homicide, attempted homicide in two cases, and attempted murder. Previously, the Middle German Broadcasting (MDR) had reported on this.

At the beginning of March, the man is said to have killed his 42-year-old mother and a nine-year-old brother. The police secured several items of evidence, including knives. The accused and the victims, according to the police, have an Azerbaijani background and possess both Turkish and Russian state guarantees.

During the incident, other siblings of the suspect were injured. This includes two girls aged 13 and 15, as well as a 17-year-old.

The public prosecutor's office in Saxony-Anhalt is handling the case, as it took place within their jurisdiction. The emergency services were heavily involved due to the severe nature of the incidents. The woman and the boy were found dead in their Magdeburg home. The public prosecutor intends to present an indictment for homicide at the Magdeburg Regional Court. The suspect's 17-year-old brother was also injured during the emergencies.
