Change of coach: Osnabrück loses test match against Duisburg
Three days after parting ways with coach Tobias Schweinsteiger, second division bottom side VfL Osnabrück also lost a test match against MSV Duisburg. With interim coach Martin Heck on the sidelines, the team from Lower Saxony lost 2-1 (0-1) to the bottom club in the 3rd division on Friday.
Thomas Pledl and Niclas Stierlin scored for MSV. Dutch new signing John Verhoek only managed to bring Osnabrück back to 1:2. The match was played in private and was played over two 60-minute periods.
Sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh told the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" (Friday): "We will take the time we need to find the best possible solution, as we did a year ago after the departure of Daniel Scherning. Martin Heck will most likely play the important match against 1. FC Magdeburg together with his assistant coach colleague Tim Danneberg. Everything else is open."
VfL Osnabrück, currently in Bundesliga 2's relegation zone, suffered another setback under interim coach Martin Heck, losing a test match 2-1 against fellow strugglers MSV Duisburg in the 3rd division. Despite the addition of Dutch signing John Verhoek, Osnabrück has yet to secure a win in their search for a permanent successor to Tobias Schweinsteiger.
