Change in the Management Board of FC Bayern Munich

There has been a personnel change at FC Bayern Munich. Chief Marketing Officer Andreas Jung (61) informed the Supervisory Board at its meeting on Monday that he will not be renewing his contract, which expires in the summer. The German soccer record champions intend to "decide in due course" on taking over his areas of responsibility from July 1, 2024.

There is no causal link between this personnel matter and the possible appointment of Max Eberl, which is still the subject of speculation. Prior to the announcement by the club, "Bild" and "Münchner Merkur/tz" had reported on Jung's decision.

"Already today, eight months before the end of his work for FC Bayern, I would like to thank Andreas Jung from the bottom of my heart on behalf of the entire club. He has been responsible for our sponsorship since 1996 and during this time has shaped the club into Europe's leader in the field of marketing," said President Herbert Hainer according to a statement on Tuesday.

A sports science graduate and sports manager, Andreas Jung joined FC Bayern in 1996 from the German Cycling Federation, where he was Managing Director of the Mountain Bike World Championships. Initially as Head of Department, later as Director of Sponsoring and Events. In 2010, he was appointed deputy board member, and in 2012 he was finally appointed board member for marketing. Where his future lies remains to be seen.

"The 27 years I've spent at FC Bayern have been fantastic. Among other things, I was able to celebrate three Champions League victories, including the treble twice, 20 championships and twelve DFB Cup wins," said Jung. "I'm looking forward to the next eight months - we are FC Bayern, we have big plans."

Whether Eberl will join them remains to be seen. The 50-year-old is considered the preferred candidate of honorary president Uli Hoeneß. Leipzig parted company with Eberl at the end of September shortly before the top match against FC Bayern. The reason, according to the RB bosses, was Eberl's lack of commitment to Leipzig. "FC Bayern had nothing whatsoever to do with Max Eberl's release from Leipzig," emphasized Hainer these days.

As the German soccer giants, FC Bayern Munich, prepare for a change in management, it was announced that Chief Marketing Officer Andreas Jung would not be renewing his contract, set to expire in the summer of 2024. This development comes as Bundesliga powerhouse FC Bayern Munich's record champions are aiming to determine their successor in Jung's areas of responsibility from July 1, 2024.
