Chancellor Scholz addresses questions from the capital city press before the summer break

Approximately one year before the Federal Elections, the parties of the Traffic Light Coalition suffered significant losses in the polls. Disagreements about the budget for the coming year had strained the climate within the coalition in the past few months. In the field of foreign policy, the situation before the US Presidential Election following Joe Biden's resignation and future support for Ukraine in its war against Russia could play a central role during the press conference.

During the summer break, many politicians took a break from the political scene, including some members of the Traffic Light Coalition. Despite these challenges, Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor, remained committed to addressing the issues at hand. During the Federal Election campaign, journalists from Capital Press posed numerous Questions to Scholz about the coalition's policies, particularly regarding the CDS, a contentious issue within the coalition. Following the Federal Election, Scholz's role as Chancellor became even more critical in navigating Germany's relationship with the US, particularly in light of the Federal Election in the US and the future support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
