Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a visit to the German football team following their scoreless tie with Ukraine during their pre-EURO warm-up in Nuremberg on Monday. Accompanied by the German Football Association's (DFB) sports director Rudi Völler, president Bernd Neuendorf, and managing director Andreas Rettig, Scholz watched the game and then met the team.

According to national coach Julian Nagelsmann, Scholz expressed encouragement and shared support for the team, stating that the whole country is behind them. "It was very quiet back in the locker room," said Nagelsmann in an interview with ARD. Neuendorf added, noting that Scholz received a warm welcome and sent his blessings.

Thomas Müller of the national team expressed his disappointment at not scoring, saying that they "deserved a goal," but not from a lack of focus or missed opportunities. He described the team's mood as "quiet," hardly surprising considering the loss.

Müller also touched on the impressive performance by the younger players in the team, particularly MAXIMILIAN BEIER, and joked that the newcomers might be a bit nervous. However, he assured that it's not an issue.

Müller's point seemed to be corroborated by the "good atmosphere" within the team - a testament to their high spirits despite the scoreless draw.

"We're not about to be nervous here," he said, lightening the room with a smile.
