Champions League: Eintracht women challenge defending champions

Eintracht Frankfurt's women's soccer team go into the Champions League match against defending champions FC Barcelona as underdogs. The Spanish record champions will come to Deutsche Bank Park for the second group match on Wednesday (21:00/DAZN) with world champion and Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmatí, among others. Eintracht had sold almost 14,000 tickets by Tuesday and is hoping for vociferous support from the fans. The 2:1 win at FC Rosengard in Sweden has given Niko Arnautis' team additional confidence.

A good three years after taking over former European Cup winners 1. FFC Frankfurt, Eintracht will be playing for their first ever place in the quarter-finals of the lucrative competition. Barcelona started the group stage with a 5:0 win over Benfica Lisbon. FC Bayern Munich will face Paris St. Germain on Thursday (18:45/DAZN). VfL Wolfsburg missed out on a place in the group stage.

Despite being underdogs, Eintracht Frankfurt's women's soccer team is eager to make an impact in the Champions League, facing defending champions FC Barcelona. Aitana Bonmatí and her Barcelona teammates will bring their world champion and Ballon d'Or winning talents to Deutsche Bank Park.

In light of their successful 2:1 win against FC Rosengard in Sweden, Eintracht Frankfurt's ladies are hopeful of putting up a strong fight, exploiting any potential vulnerabilities in the Champions League powerhouse, FC Barcelona.
