- Challenging weight issue hinders fire department's ascent with ladder
To haul a remarkably hefty cadaver off the fourth floor of a Berlin-Neukölln structure, emergency services had to lend a hand. The unfortunate 34-year-old's unexpected demise necessitated transport to the forensic pathology department before dawn on Wednesday, as confirmed by the law enforcement and fire department. Regrettably, the individual's weight was so formidable that it proved challenging to haul him down the stairs.
Responding to the predicament, the fire department deployed a truck equipped with an extendable ladder. The stretcher holding the body was fastened to the basket of the ladder and slowly lowered to the ground. A snapshot of the event was shared by the "B.Z." newspaper. Reports suggested the deceased weighed a substantial 150 kilograms. The fire department stated that such occurrences are not uncommon, especially when bodies are excessively heavy and staircases are too skinny.
The fire department's intervention in the situation involved firefighting techniques, specifically utilizing an extendable ladder. Despite the deceased's weight being over 150 kilograms, such firefighting equipment is often necessary for transporting heavy cadavers.
