Volleyball - CEV Cup: Schwerin eliminated after defeat
After losing the Supercup and being knocked out of the DVV Cup, the SSC Palmberg Schwerin volleyball team suffered their next disappointment of the season. On Tuesday evening, the leaders of the Volleyball Bundesliga were defeated 3:1 (25:16, 22:25, 21:25, 20:25) in the last 16 of the CEV Cup by their league rivals Dresdner SC, who had already won the first leg 3:0 a week ago.
The team from Schwerin got off to a furious start, dominating the first set almost throughout and earning nine set points. As the match progressed, however, it developed into the expected close match between the two current top teams in the league. The visitors took the second set and then completed the rout for the SSC in the third.
As the DSC had already decided the duel in their favor by winning two sets, the only thing left for the women from Mecklenburg was to gain confidence for the third match in a row with Dresden with a win. Dresden will visit Schwerin again in the Bundesliga next Saturday. However, the Koslowski team was also denied this small taste of success.
