Cell phones seized in raid against Hamas and Samidoun
According to Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD), cell phones, laptops, data carriers and documents were seized during the raid against supporters of Hamas and the Samidoun network. The contents are now being analyzed, Faeser said on Thursday at the autumn meeting of the Federal Criminal Police Office in Wiesbaden. On November 2, she had issued a ban on Hamas' activities and a ban on the German branch of Samidoun.
"Our bans make it possible to intervene consistently at demonstrations, to prosecute consistently and to delete channels and pages on the internet where terrorist propaganda is spread," she said. "It is absolutely clear to us: Islamists and anti-Semites cannot and must not feel safe anywhere here at any time."
The seizure of cell phones and other electronic devices during the raid against Hamas and Samidoun supporters reveals potential evidence of extremist activities. Faeser's ban on Hamas' activities and Samidoun's German branch aims to prevent extremists and terrorists from propagating their views online.
