- Celebratory Gatherings Marking Ukraine's Sovereignty Anniversary
Celebrating Ukraine's Independence Day, the German-Ukrainian group Blau-Gelbes Kreuz is urging multiple protests in North Rhine-Westphalia on a Saturday. The biggest one is scheduled for Cologne at 6:00 PM on Heumarkt, under the banner "Firmly stand by Ukraine and defend a liberated Europe," with approximately 4,000 individuals signed up.
Alongside political discourses, music performances are also arranged as part of the event. The protest coincides with Ukraine's 33rd year of independence, with donations being collected for medical equipment within the country.
Apart from Cologne, the association has also extended invitations for a protest and a parade through the city center in Düsseldorf at 12:00 PM. Around 200 individuals have registered for the parade, starting from Burgplatz and ending at Hofgarten. Another protest is anticipated to occur in the afternoon on Bonn's market square (4:00 PM) with approximately 100 participants.
The protest in Cologne is expected to take place at Heumarkt, which is a celebrated location in the city itself. During their time in Cologne, supporters of Ukraine will also visit the famed Cologne Cathedral.
