- CDU wants to govern - expert team introduced

The CDU in Thuringia, with its lead candidate Mario Voigt, aims to return to government after ten years in opposition. The 47-year-old presented a sort of shadow cabinet with 13 members in Erfurt, who are to act as experts in their respective policy areas. "We want to make it clear that we are ready to lead this state," said Voigt. Some of these members have the chance of becoming ministers in case of a corresponding election result and a government participation of the CDU.

The expert group for a 100-day government program mainly consists of CDU state parliament candidates or current members - with a few exceptions. The team also includes Erfurter businesswoman Colette Boos-John, who also heads the Association of Family Businesses in Thuringia, former high jumper and police officer Ariane Friedrich-Lange, chemistry professor Ulrich Schubert, and the head of the State Development Corporation Andreas Krey.

The following 13 individuals were presented by Mario Voigt as part of the CDU's shadow cabinet, acting as policy experts in the hopes of returning to government in Thuringia. Some of these individuals could potentially become ministers if the CDU wins an election and forms a government.
