CDU: State should not save on roads
The CDU in Lower Saxony's state parliament is calling on the state government not to cut funding for roads and cycle paths. The Red-Greens are planning to cut funding for municipal road and cycle path construction by 15 million euros, criticized Carina Hermann, Parliamentary Secretary of the CDU parliamentary group, before the state parliament session on Wednesday. This means that planned cycle paths such as in Dipshorn in the district of Rotenburg or in Vollersode in the district of Osterholz are on the brink. "It is to be feared that the list of endangered municipal cycle path and road projects will grow longer," said Hermann. This is not good news for rural areas in particular. The CDU is bringing the issue to the state parliament on Wednesday with a topical debate.
The Red-Greens' proposed budget cuts in the state parliament could potentially impact the funding of traffic infrastructure in rural areas, affecting planned cycle paths in towns like Dipshorn and Vollersode. Despite the CDU's call for maintaining road and cycle path funding, there's concern that the list of endangered projects may expand.
