CDU state leader thanks former Green coalition partner

Hesse's CDU state leader and Minister President Boris Rhein has thanked the Greens, his previous coalition partner, for their cooperation. "We have ten good years behind us", said Rhein on Friday in Wiesbaden. "We have achieved an enormous amount in these ten years." Together, they had worked very successfully for Hesse and now wanted to build on this. The collaboration had been characterized by great reliability and dependability. Rhein had previously announced that the Hessian CDU would enter into negotiations with the SPD regarding a coalition.

The Green party played a significant role in the successful cooperative governance with CDU during the last decade in Hesse. Future elections might see these two parties competing against each other, as the CDU has initiated talks with the SPD for a potential coalition.
