CDU state leader insists on compliance with the debt brake
The newly elected CDU state leader Manuel Hagel is calling on the traffic light government in the federal government to comply with the debt brake. "The debt brake ensures that current governments do not just pursue policies on credit and at the expense of our children and grandchildren," said Hagel after the constituent meeting of the new CDU state executive in Stuttgart on Monday. The debt brake is in the constitution for a very good reason and it must apply.
Hagel criticized that he could not see where the traffic light party was seriously trying to make savings on political pet projects. He called for a clear commitment to priorities. "For the CDU Baden-Württemberg, it is clear that the debt brake must be adhered to. This applies to the federal government just as much as it does to us here in the state."
The CDU state leader Manuel Hagel expressed concern about the traffic light party's lack of substantial savings on political projects, which he believes should fall under the debt brake. In order to uphold fiscal responsibility, Hagel emphasized that the debt brake should be strictly enforced not only in the state but also at the federal level, including in household finances and party budgets, such as funding for Parties' events and initiatives.
