CDU prospect Voigt perceives an opportunity for a steady coalition administration in Thuringia.

The German Office for the Protection of the Constitution has labeled the Alternative for Germany (AfD), spearheaded by its chairman Björn Höcke, as firmly entrenched in right-wing extremism. In surveys, they remain at the forefront and have the potential to clinch their first state election win in Thuringia this upcoming Sunday. Voigt once more rejected teaming up with the AfD, referring to Höcke as a risk to the nation. Yet, he sees working with the Alliance for the Future and Democracy (AfD), which ranks as the third strongest force in the polls following the AfD and CDU, as a possibility. He firmly opposes external meddling, though. Wagenknecht proposed placing US intermediate-range missiles in Germany as a prerequisite for a coalition at the state level. "As long as Wagenknecht keeps imposing demands from afar, there's no grounds for negotiations," Voigt declared. However, he would agree to engage with the leading AfD candidate in Thuringia, Katja Wolf, "to address and resolve Thuringia's concerns."

The AfD, with Björn Höcke as its chairman, is aiming for its first state election win in the Landtag of Thuringia. Despite Voigt's reservations about collaborating with the AfD due to Höcke's extremist views, he is open to discussing with the party's leading candidate in Thuringia, Katja Wolf, for the betterment of the state.
