- CDU ponders alliance with wagon-bound faction in MV, potentially collaborating in political sphere.
The CDU in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern views collaborating with Bündnis Sarah Wagenknecht (BSW) as a possibility at the state level, according to state chairman Daniel Peters to "Ostsee-Zeitung". Peters viewed the BSW as a diverse group with the ambition to participate in politics, stating, "We need to figure out: What are their intentions?"
On the other hand, Peters dismissed the idea of an active partnership between the Christian Democrats and the AfD. "No agreements or joint motions will be made with the AfD," Peters asserted. Yet, he clarified, "If the AfD backs one of our motions, then that's just how it goes. It's a regular, democratic procedure."
Despite Peters' openness to collaborating with the BSW, he firmly rejects any form of active partnership with the AfD. Regardless of the AfD supporting CDU motions, there will be no agreements or joint initiatives between the two parties.
