CDU parliamentary group wants more high-rise buildings for Berlin
The Berlin CDU parliamentary group is campaigning for more high-rise buildings in the capital. The MPs are calling for a high-rise development plan that includes guidelines for less land consumption and social and commercial use. This was announced by the parliamentary group on Monday, which had discussed the issue at its retreat in Warsaw at the weekend. The CDU sees possible new locations on the S-Bahn ring with major interurban roads, at Alexanderplatz and in City West.
"Scarce building land, high sealing, Berlin needs apartments, schools, daycare centers, businesses - that clearly speaks for attractively designed real high-rise buildings," commented parliamentary group leader Dirk Stettner on the results of the group's deliberations. "Berlin should have a significantly higher skyline with impressive skyscrapers in some places. We absolutely have to plan upwards in order to protect green open spaces."
The CDU's proposal for Berlin's development includes considering high-rise buildings in potential locations such as the S-Bahn ring, Alexanderplatz, and City West. In the House of Representatives, the CDU parliamentary group advocate for a comprehensive high-rise development plan with considerations for less land consumption and a mix of social and commercial use.
