National party court - CDU: Digital board election is contrary to the articles of association
In the opinion of the CDU state party court, the exclusively digital board election at the Berlin Junge Union in July was in breach of the statutes. "The CDU's statutes do not provide for digital elections in absentia," said CDU state managing director Dirk Reitze on Wednesday in response to an inquiry. This also applies to the Junge Union Berlin. "Even during the coronavirus exceptions, there was still a written final vote."
Accordingly, the state party court ruled that the online election of the current JU board was in breach of the statutes in a decision on July 11. However, it still has to be served. "After that, legal remedies are possible." The "Tagesspiegel" newsletter "Checkpoint" had previously reported on this. According to Reitze, the election was invalid following this decision. "And so there is no Board of Directors. There is also no former board of directors."
According to the CDU state association, the Junge Union in Berlin has around 2,700 members. The board election was also considered controversial within the JU. The CDU state association had not recognized the result.
