CDU brings Olympic champion Harting on board for Olympic plans
The Berlin CDU has enlisted the support of Olympic discus champion Robert Harting for a possible Olympic bid by Germany. The multiple world and European champion is going to Warsaw from Friday to Sunday with the Berlin CDU parliamentary group for a closed meeting, at which the 2036 Olympics will also be discussed, as CDU parliamentary group leader Dirk Stettner reported. A national bid for the 2036 or 2040 Games is currently being discussed.
According to Stettner, Harting will continue to publicly support Berlin's Olympic plans "as an ambassador" after his trip to Warsaw. On December 2, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) will discuss a national bid at its general meeting in Frankfurt am Main. If the vote is positive, a concept for a bid would then be drawn up by the end of 2024. Only then will the DOSB decide on a bid and for which Games it will aim for.
Robert Harting, the Olympic discus champion, expressed his support for Berlin's potential bid for the 2036 or 2040 Olympics during his visit to Warsaw with the Berlin CDU parliamentary group. In his role as an ambassador, Harting will continue advocating for Olympia, specifically Berlin's Olympic plans, until a definite decision is made by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) in 2024.
