Cause of fire in Stadelheim prison unclear: Investigations
The cause of the fire in Munich's Stadelheim prison is still unclear. "We are investigating in every direction," said a police spokesperson on Thursday. 17 people were injured in the fire on Wednesday, one of them seriously. He was taken to hospital along with two other slightly injured inmates.
Nine prisoners and five prison officers were also slightly injured, but did not have to go to hospital, according to reports. A prison officer had called the fire department because a cell was on fire and the entire wing was covered in smoke.
