Due to a massive performance boost, VfB Stuttgart managed to win the first test match of their Japan tour despite losing 0:2 after the first half. The Swabian Champions League participant defeated Kyoto Sanga with a score of 5:3. Kyoto, unlike VfB, is already in the J-League season and is in 17th place after 24 matches.

Rafael Elias (21st minute), Marco Tulio (34th), and Taichi Hara (46th) scored for the home team, and VfB, which had started hesitantly, made a big comeback. New signings Justin Diehl (58th), Jamie Leweling (68th), Thomas Kastanaras (73rd), Moussa Cisse (79th), and Luca Raimund (90th) contributed to a successful catch-up.

The VfB team, coached by Sebastian Hoeneß, will face Sanfrecce Hiroshima in another preparation match for the new season on Thursday. Sanfrecce Hiroshima is also from Japan and is in fifth place in their domestic league.
