- Catastrophic employment of SEK: individual struggled with mental health issues

On a Saturday morning, a 46-year-old individual was reportedly acting menacingly towards a 49-year-old with a firearm at a trailer park. The 49-year-old managed to fend off the attacker and dial emergency services. According to a joint report from the law enforcement and prosecutor's office, the 46-year-old later entered a multi-unit building on Dreilindenstraße. Since the suspect didn't respond to knocks, authorities broke in during the afternoon.

Officials announced in the evening that they had gained entry into the Nikolassee apartment in Berlin where the 46-year-old resided, thanks to a warrant. However, the man supposedly responded by firing a weapon. The officers retaliated, resulting in the man's fatal injury. An ongoing murder investigation is being conducted.

Buchner hinted that the circumstances surrounding how the 46-year-old acquired the weapon remain unclear. The individual's apartment was described as being in a disarray.

The multi-family building is situated in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district of Berlin, close to the Wannsee area. The majority of the neighborhood is occupied by villas and standalone homes. The structure in question houses affordable housing units. A local informed a Deutsche Presse-Agentur journalist that approximately 100 studio apartments are present in the building. A nearby facility is an elementary school.

RBB, a local news station, reported extensively on the incident, providing regular updates to the community. The 46-year-old's actions led to increased concern among residents in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, with many expressing relief when the situation was finally resolved.
