Almost four years Following the suspected street race with tragic outcomes on the A66 near Hofheim, the individuals implicated in this incident are set to stand trial today (9:15 AM) at the Frankfurt Regional Court. Three men, aged 30, 33, and 38, are under accusation for participating in an unlawful street race. The eldest defendant is additionally charged with hit-and-run. During the suspected illegal race in October 2020, an innocent driver sadly lost her life.

The prosecution suggests that the reason behind the accident was the lane change of another innocent driver to the left. The 33-year-old defendant is alleged to have veered his sports car at high speed, lost control, and crashed into the 71-year-old woman's vehicle. Both cars caught fire promptly following the collision.

The 30-year-old defendant turned himself in to the police on the same day. The 38-year-old defendant escaped and was apprehended in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Herford during the spring of 2021. This intricate trial is anticipated to continue until November, as per current plans.
