Voting Process - Casting ballots in European and local reruns.
Voting has commenced in Thuringia for both the European and municipal elections. Polling stations are operating from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, giving over 1.7 million Thuringians the opportunity to decide the composition of the European Parliament.
Previously ineligible, 16- and 17-year-olds now have the right to vote for the first time. The latest data from the State Statistics Office reveals that 25 women and men from Thuringia are included in the party lists for the European ballot, which takes place every five years.
Meanwhile, approximately 1.3 million residents in Thuringia are also being urged to vote again in their district administrator or mayor elections. With decisions being made in 15 districts and free cities, several communities are undergoing runoff elections for mayoral positions as well.

In these European elections, various municipalities across Thuringia are also representing their interests in the EU Parliament. Thuringians, including the newly eligible 16- and 17-year-olds, are encouraged to visit their designated polling stations to cast their votes, contributing to the decision-making process of the EU Parliament in Erfurt and beyond. Unfortunately, due to the outcome of the initial voting process, several run-off elections for mayoral positions are necessary in various districts and free cities within Thuringia. Regardless, citizens should ensure they exercise their civic duty and participate in these elections to shape their community's future.
