Second-tier Bundesliga league in Germany - Carsten Müller named as the head of youth development at 1 FC Magdeburg.
Carsten Müller will take over as the new head of the youth performance center at 2. Bundesliga club 1. FC Magdeburg. The team made the announcement on Friday. Most recently, the 52-year-old was in the same position at third-tier FC Erzgebirge Aue. "We're thrilled to have snagged a seasoned NLZ (National League Youth) leader like Carsten Müller, who's well acquainted with the youth scene in the northeast and has a history with FCM (1. FC Magdeburg)," said sports director Otmar Schork. "Our goal is to strengthen our youth teams and to create the opportunity to nurture homegrown talent for the pro ranks."
Müller isn't a stranger to Magdeburg. He played for the club from 1989 to 1994. In the summer of 2001, he returned as the head of the youth performance center and stayed with the team until 2014, when he made the move to Aue. While at Magdeburg, he was also an interim coach (2009/10, 2011/12) and a co-trainer (2011/12) of the professional team. "I consider myself part of the team and want to help further develop the youth performance center," said Müller.
