Renowned director Caroline Link spoke to the German Press Agency in Munich on her 60th birthday (June 2nd) about her concerns for the environment and the looming threat of climate change. She expressed her fears, stating, "I'm terrified of the collapse of our nature." Link believes that if our ecosystem fails, "everything else becomes irrelevant."

She is currently production of her next film "The Years with You," a love story set between a climate activist and a law student from different backgrounds. Link's intention was to create a narrative where two individuals fall in love, transcending their own social bubbles and sparking dialogue between seemingly disparate worlds. Unfortunately, the release of "The Years with You" has been pushed back to at least 2025.

With a long list of accomplishments, Link is a notable figure in the German film industry. Her debut film "Beyond Silence" from 1996 was a tremendous success, even being nominated for an Oscar in 1998. Though she didn't secure the award until 2003, when she won for the adaptation of Stefanie Zweig's autobiographical novel "Nowhere in Africa."

Throughout her career, she's mastered the craft of developing complex characters and telling their stories with great care, intrigue, and a keen understanding of subtleties. Numerous films showcase this, such as "The Young One Must Breathe Fresh Air," a biopic depicting Hape Kerkeling's childhood, or "The Rosebud Steals Hitler," which follows the turbulent journey of a Jewish girl during the Nazi era.
