Carnival fan Carolin Kebekus appeals to revelers

Carolin Kebekus (43) would like this year's carnival kick-off on 11.11. to be more peaceful. "For me, carnival is the best time of the year," the Cologne comedian told the German Press Agency. "Whether it's a pub or street carnival, I just can't get enough of it."

Of course, the odd Kölsch also flows. "There's a golden rule in our huge carnival clique: we party hard, but always look out for each other and make sure that everyone is doing well. Even the staggering rag clown who isn't one of us." Accordingly, she hopes that the people of Cologne will take good care of each other on the streets and in the pubs next Saturday.

Carnival in Cologne regularly leads to unpleasant side effects in connection with excessive alcohol consumption. This year, particularly large crowds are expected because 11/11 falls on a Saturday. With 1,000 police officers, 180 public order officers and more than 1,000 private security staff, the city wants to keep the expected rush under control.

Kebekus herself is abstaining from alcohol this year because she is pregnant. The new episode of the "Carolin Kebekus Show", which airs on Thursday at 10.50 pm on ARD, is also about the importance of alcohol, and not just at carnival.

Carolin Kebekus, the comedian advocating for a peaceful carnival, emphasizes that even in the joyous atmosphere, it's crucial to look out for each other, including the city's revelers and the infamous rag clown. Customs dictate that they party hard, but responsibility is key, echoing Kebekus's sentiments.
