The Cranger Fair in Herne will begin on the coming Thursday for the 540th time and, according to organizers, will once again have many attractions. On the XL-Area at the Rhein-Herne Canal, Herne will celebrate the largest family fair in Germany and the largest folk festival in North Rhine-Westphalia with the slogan "Bigger than you think!" as announced by City Marketing Herne.

More than 500 vendors, 50 ride-and-play attractions, numerous culinary offerings and a colorful program for young and old are expected to attract visitors to the Ruhrgebiet city from 1st to 11th August. As always, there will be special novelties and numerous classics on the fairground. For children, separate ride attractions will be set up. Helicopter flights over the fairground can also be booked for the first time.

Approximately four million visitors attended the festival grounds last year. NRW Minister President Hendrik Wüst (CDU) and his deputy Mona Neubaur (Greens) were also present for the official start of the event.

As usual, the mayor of Herne, Frank Dudda (SPD), will perform the traditional barrel tapping. The event also includes a parade with many floats, foot and music groups, and other events.
