Carl Zeiss Jena introduces Böger as new sports director

Regional league soccer club FC Carl Zeiss Jena has filled the position of sports director with a prominent returnee. As the club announced on Wednesday, Stefan Böger, a former Jena player and Bundesliga professional, signed a contract until summer 2026. The 57-year-old most recently worked as a scout for FC Augsburg and has already gained experience as a sports director at Hallescher FC and was head of youth development at Chinese club Guangzhou FC. Böger has also worked as a coach in Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, Dresden and Halle in the past.

"I'm really looking forward to my new role in Jena, where I've come full circle," said Böger, who began his footballing career at FCC in 1979 and then played for the Thuringians until 1991. "After a very long, intensive and varied path through the most diverse facets of soccer, the fact that I can now work for the club again, where it all began for me, is something extremely special."

Stefan Böger, in his new role as sports director, will aim to lead FC Carl Zeiss Jena to success in the Regional league. Having played for Carl Zeiss Jena in the past and having a wealth of experience in various soccer roles, Böger's familiarity with the club and the league should be beneficial.
