Cardiovascular problems most common cause of hospital visits
More than half a million people were treated as inpatients in Thuringian hospitals last year - most of them for cardiovascular problems. In 2022, 13,268 more patients were treated as inpatients than in the previous year, according to the Thuringian State Statistical Office on Friday. Every sixth person admitted - around 77,500 men and women - had a disease of the cardiovascular system, it said. The number of treatments with such a diagnosis increased by 2.1 percent compared to 2021.
The figures do not include diagnoses of Covid-19 diseases because, according to the statisticians, these are recorded as secondary diagnoses. However, the statistics here refer to primary diagnoses.
The increase in cardiovascular-related hospitalizations highlights the importance of regular health screenings and lifestyle modifications. An analysis of the statistics revealed that cardiovascular diseases accounted for a significant portion of health issues requiring hospitalization.
