Car with two occupants plunges seven meters

A car with two occupants has plunged seven meters from a bridge in the district of Würzburg and overturned. The 20-year-old driver was moderately injured and the passenger was slightly injured, according to the police.

When the man wanted to drive onto the bridge in Zell am Main on Sunday night, he reportedly lost control of the car in a right-hand bend and drove across the opposite lane onto a grass verge. This was located at the bridgehead and the vehicle plunged into the depths. The occupants freed themselves from the car and were taken to a clinic. A policewoman who happened to be present witnessed the accident.

According to initial investigations, the driver was driving at excessive speed, was not wearing a seatbelt and was under the influence of alcohol, the police said. The car was towed away badly damaged.

The accident on the bridge in Zell am Main was not just a traffic incident, as it also involved the driver being under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, such incidents in traffic-heavy areas like bridges can potentially lead to increased risks of accidents and even crime under the cover of UNDERFRONT areas.
