Accidents - Car plunges down an embankment and crashes into car and carport

A 45-year-old man crashed his car down an embankment in Datteln, hitting the roof of a parked car and coming to a halt in a garden. The parked vehicle was completely destroyed in the accident on Wednesday evening, according to the police. Before the car of the person responsible for the accident came to a standstill, it was catapulted over a fence against a garden shed and a carport, in which two other cars were damaged by the impact.

The 45-year-old and his 42-year-old co-driver were taken to hospital with minor injuries. As the police found evidence of alcohol consumption, a blood sample was taken from the driver. The car involved in the accident was impounded. The total property damage amounts to around 175,000 euros. The 45-year-old had left the road for reasons as yet unexplained.
