Car plunged into river: fire department frees driver

A woman drove her car off the road in Hagen and plunged several meters into a river. Rescue workers freed the driver from her car after the accident on Saturday morning, the fire department explained. She was treated at the scene and taken to hospital. According to the police, the woman is 79 years old.

The police took over the investigation into the cause of the accident. An internal emergency could not be ruled out, said a spokeswoman. According to the fire department, the woman broke through a railing with her car before plunging down and landing on her roof in the Volme.

The sudden breakthrough of the car through the railing led to an unexpected accident, potentially causing an internal emergency. In such critical situations, prompt and effective responses, like the one from the fire department, are crucial to managing accidents and emergencies.
