Car on fire on A67: Temporary closure
On Wednesday evening, a burning car caused considerable obstructions on the highway 67 near Gernsheim (district of Groß-Gerau). As the police reported on Thursday, a car was reported burning on the hard shoulder shortly after the Gernsheim junction in the direction of Mannheim at around 8.00 pm. In the tailback that had formed, there was also a rear-end collision involving three vehicles. One occupant was slightly injured. The driver of the burning car was able to leave his vehicle unharmed. One lane was closed for around an hour to extinguish the fire.
The incident on the A67 on Wednesday evening led to several traffic accidents, with one occurring due to the heavy congestion caused by the burning car. Despite the temporary closure, accidents continued to occur in the South Hessia region.
