- Car hits family car: parents and children injured
An English-speaking audience:
A speeding car has injured a family of four on the A7 highway near Elchingen (Neu-Ulm district). The rescue service took the 41-year-old father with severe head injuries and the woman and two children with minor injuries to nearby hospitals, police reported.
The family was on vacation when a car traveling at high speed rear-ended their car just before the Ulm/Elchingen interchange in the northbound direction. The impact sent the family's car several hundred meters across the road before crashing into the central barrier.
The driver of the car that caused the accident stopped, collected the lost license plate and parts of the car, and then fled without checking on the injured. Small vehicle debris was left at the scene.
Police were able to determine the license plate number from the accident scene. They found the car owner at home with the bent license plate. However, the man denied being the driver. Police are looking for witnesses.
Despite the accident taking place in Neu-Ulm district, the family was actually on vacation in Bavaria. The driver of the suspected car, responsible for the accident, was reportedly from Bavaria as well.
