Car dealership in East Frisia destroyed by fire: High damage

A fire caused significant damage to an auto dealership in the eastern part of Wiesmoor, Aurich district, in the early hours of Tuesday. The damage, according to police estimates, is in the millions. When the fire department arrived at the scene, the building was already fully engulfed in flames, according to fire department spokesperson Jan-Marco Bienhoff on Tuesday. The fire department deployed over a hundred personnel to extinguish the fire.

The fire department spokesperson stated that there was "an immense amount of heat" from the fire. Fuels, business supplies, gas cylinders, tires, and batteries were all on fire. "Naturally, this provides the fire with a lot of fuel and therefore the fire intensity was also very high."

A resident noticed the fire in the early morning hours and called the police, according to the police. No one was injured by the fire before Tuesday morning.

A large column of smoke rose above the auto dealership. The firefighting efforts lasted until the morning hours. Residents were advised to close their windows and doors.

The cause of the fire was initially unclear to the police. The auto dealership, which also included a salesroom and a storage area, had vehicles and stored materials burning in it. The number of vehicles destroyed by the flames was initially unknown.
