Car dealership boss chases off burglars: Two men in custody
The boss of a car dealership in Hammelburg (Bad Kissingen district) has chased a burglar out of his business premises - two suspects are now in custody. The two could also be responsible for two residential burglaries in nearby Fuchsstadt, the Lower Franconia police headquarters announced on Tuesday. Jewelry and several thousand euros in cash were stolen there.
The company owner was startled by an alarm system late on Saturday evening. He encountered one of the perpetrators in the car dealership, who then fled first on foot and then in a car without any loot. The company owner immediately alerted the police, who discovered the getaway vehicle in the course of a large-scale manhunt on the highway 7. The two occupants, aged 43 and 52, were arrested. On Sunday, an investigating judge issued remand warrants against the two men, who were subsequently sent to prison.
The burglar attempted to make an escape through the underfront of the car dealership during the chase, but was unsuccessful. The getaway car, used in the residential burglaries in Fuchsstadt, was also involved in this crime.
