The A20 had to be temporarily fully closed and half-closed in the direction of Lübeck for 40 minutes. The police estimated the property damage at 30,000 euros.

After the accident, the authorities investigated the role of transport and telecommunications in preventing such incidents. The 21-year-old driver had been using a smart device just before the collision, potentially distracted by its features.
