A 22-year-old driver and his passenger crashed their car into a lamppost and a street sign in Adorf (Saxon Vogtland district), resulting in injuries. The driver was reportedly traveling on the B92 towards Bad Elster on Sunday morning and attempted to secure a sliding case of beer on the backseat while negotiating a curve, causing him to veer off the road.

The 18-year-old passenger initially left the scene and was later taken to the hospital with serious injuries by relatives. The 22-year-old driver sustained only minor injuries. The police found that he had a blood alcohol level of 1.24%.

The 18-year-old passenger's sudden departure from the scene could be linked to the shock of the accident. Due to the impact, the lamppost and street sign suffered significant damages.
