A Left Party candidate in Eisenberg was targeted in a political attack, as reported by the party. During a trip to the supermarket on Friday, the candidate was verbally abused by a man he recognized by name for no apparent reason. The same individual then grabbed the candidate's T-shirt. Thankfully, the candidate sustained no injuries and reported the incident. The authorities confirmed the report and are currently investigating the incident further without providing additional comments.

Christian Schaft, co-chair of Thuringian Left, expressed his concern over the issue saying, "Incidents like these cause fear in anyone willing to stand up for a democratic and open society." The increasingly toxic political climate from the right has a significant impact on people, causing them to feel emboldened to insult, threaten, or even physically harm others.

In recent times, multiple similar incidents have gained public attention. For instance, Matthias Ecke, an SPD campaigner, was brutally assaulted in Dresden. Schaft emphasized that "society, politics, and justice need to come together and send a strong message to put a halt to these forms of verbal and physical abuses."
