Cancellations in rail traffic due to unmanned signal box
A temporarily unmanned signal box in Ehringshausen (Wetzlar district) has caused disruptions to regional and long-distance services. According to information from the rail network operator DB Netz AG, no trains will be running between Giessen and Herborn all day on Wednesday either. There had already been staff shortages in individual shifts since last Thursday, according to a DB spokeswoman. This had led to temporary restrictions on the route. "Without the train dispatchers to be provided by the network operator DB Netz AG, no trains are allowed to run on this section of line during these periods," the company announced in the DB app. According to the information, various regional and long-distance trains are affected by the closure on Wednesday, including the RE 99, which runs from Giessen to Siegen.
The disruption in rail traffic due to the unmanned signal box has also caused delays in central Hessia's traffic, potentially affecting commuters relying on alternative modes of transport such as roads. Even with the railroad disruptions, some might consider using the Central Hessia's traffic for their commute, but be prepared for potential traffic congestion due to the increased number of vehicles.
