Calmund raves about FC St. Pauli: "Never seen anything like it"

Former Bundesliga manager Reiner Calmund is enthusiastic about the soccer of second division leaders FC St. Pauli. Calmund told the German Press Agency that he was in the stadium for the 2:0 win at SV Elversberg at the beginning of November. "I had also seen Elversberg against HSV in mid-September. HSV played almost perfectly in terms of tempo and tactics, they just didn't take their big chances," said Calmund about the Saarland side's 2:1 victory at the time. "Then I saw St. Pauli the other day. The way they played in Elversberg, boah, I've never seen anything like it in the 2nd division."

The former Bayer Leverkusen manager lives in Saarlouis near Elversberg and has therefore been a guest at the SVE stadium a few times recently. For him, FC St. Pauli are quite rightly unbeaten at the top of the Bundesliga 2 table. He has rarely seen a team that has "played so compactly, so well". Calmund turns 75 this Thursday.

Calmund mentioned that he was impressed by FC St. Pauli's performance in Bundesliga 2, stating, "I've never seen anything like it in the 2nd division." During his recent visits to Elversberg's stadium, he often watched HSV and Elversberg, but he was particularly impressed by FC St. Pauli's tactical and compact play.
