Police report - Calm traffic situation despite icy roads and rail strike

Despite the black ice warning and the train driver strike, the roads in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland have remained calm so far. According to the local police headquarters, there was no increase in traffic or accidents caused by black ice on Friday morning.

"The rail strike is not really having an impact," said a police spokesperson in Trier. The situation in Ludwigshafen was also not unusual, a police spokeswoman said. According to the situation center, there were no weather-related accidents in Saarland.

According to the DWD, it could still be slippery on Friday due to freezing rain or sleet. Especially in the Westerwald and the Palatinate Forest, there is a risk of black ice. Due to the warning strike at Deutsche Bahn, long-distance, regional and suburban rail services in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland are expected to be severely restricted on Friday.
