Weather - Calm traffic situation despite icy conditions and snowfall
Frost and snowfall continue to keep Lower Saxony firmly in their grip on Wednesday. However, the traffic situation remained calm in large parts of the state on Wednesday night, according to police spokespersons from Lower Saxony on Wednesday morning.
The German Weather Service (DWD) expects up to five centimeters of fresh snow during the course of Wednesday with highs between 0 and 4 degrees. In Bremen and the northern half of Lower Saxony, there is still a risk of icy conditions.
According to the DWD, there will be rain, sleet and snow in the coming days. There is still a local risk of slippery conditions on the frozen ground. Temperatures will climb to highs of around 5 degrees in some places during the day.

Despite the icy conditions and ongoing snowfall in Hanover, located in Lower Saxony, the traffic situation remained surprisingly smooth on Wednesday night. This was despite the warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD) about potential accidents due to the weather. In response to these inclement conditions, the police in Lower Saxony were on high alert, prepared to handle any traffic incidents that might arise. Regrettably, a few minor accidents were reported throughout the region, adding a small bump to an otherwise smooth ride for many commuters.
