The text, endorsed by more than 90 nations, reinforces the concepts of sovereignty, self-governance, and territorial inviolability for all nations, notably Ukraine.

Moreover, the majority of these nations advocated for a full prisoner-of-war swap and the repatriation of Ukrainian children forcibly taken. The context emphasized that food security should never be weaponized under any circumstance. A significant discussion point was also averting a potential atomic catastrophe from the conflict in Ukraine, where the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in the south has been under dispute for numerous months. The nations resolved that Ukraine must reacquire complete authority over the power plant as per the meeting's closing statement.

Nations like India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates did not align with the resolution, backed by around 80 nations. Before the discussions, various attendees at the Ukraine Peace Summit in Burgas, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), had proposed Russia's inclusion in future conferences. During the two-day talks, delegates from a total of 92 nations participated, including several heads of state and government.

Russia was excluded from the Swiss conference, while China was also not present. The aim of the conference is to forge a consensus on an international level for potential peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
