Trains between Hamburg and Bremen cannot travel over Bremen Main Station since early morning due to a cable fault in Bremen-Oberneuland discovered around 4.00 AM. The railway line between Bremen and Sagehorn (Landkreis Verden) is closed. ICE trains between Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia cannot stop at Bremen Main Station as a result.

Instead, they travel via Kirchweyhe (Landkreis Diepholz). The German Railways advise affected passengers to use local trains between Bremen Main Station and Kirchweyhe.

Regional trains are also affected on the Hamburg-Bremen line: Metronom Railway Company reports on their website that there are significant delays and partial cancellations.

Detours and bus replacement service

Some trains are rerouted between Bremen Main Station and Ottersberg (Landkreis Verden), eliminating the regular stops in Bremen-Oberneuland and Sagehorn. A bus replacement service has been set up. The buses run between Sagehorn, Bremen-Oberneuland, and Bremen Main Station.

The cause of the cable fault is being investigated by the Federal Police. The German Railways refer to it as a vandalism damage on their website. The Bahn spokesperson could not initially predict how long it would take to repair the damage.

  1. The police are currently investigating the vandalism damage to the cable in Bremen-Oberneuland, which has disrupted train services between Hamburg and Bremen.
  2. Due to the cable fault, German Railways has had to reroute some trains between Bremen Main Station and Ottersberg, bypassing Lower Saxony stations like Bremen-Oberneuland and Sagehorn.
  3. The Press Office of German Railways has confirmed that ICE trains and regional trains from North Rhine-Westphalia cannot stop at Bremen Main Station, forcing passengers to use alternative transport options.
  4. Passengers affected by the disruptions should consider using the bus replacement service provided by German Railways, which runs between Sagehorn, Bremen-Oberneuland, and Bremen Main Station.
  5. The incident has caused significant delays and partial cancellations on the Metronom Railway Company's service between Hamburg and Bremen, making train travel less reliable for commuters in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony.
  6. The disruption in the railway track near Bremen Main Station has also impacted the flow of traffic around the North Rhine-Westphalia and Hamburg area, causing increased congestion on the roads leading to and from the station.
