C&A plans to open 100 new stores in Europe
The clothing retail chain C&A is on course for expansion. "We want to open 100 new stores in Europe over the next three years," said the new head of Germany, Carsten Horn, in response to a dpa inquiry. The "Rheinische Post" had initially reported this.
According to the company, the main focus of the growth plans is on Romania, Poland and Italy. New branches are also set to open in Germany next year, including in Hamburg. Horn also sees potential in Berlin and eastern Germany. Further stores are to be opened in Madrid, Amsterdam, Paris and Milan in 2024.
The company prefers locations close to city centers. Horn wants to focus on a new store concept in future. "We have strengthened the brand and looked at what customers are looking for. They don't want to move through six floors of masses of textiles, they want to be inspired while shopping and discover new outfits. Less mass on clothes racks, more stage for fashion."
C&A currently operates 1300 stores in 17 countries, almost 400 of which are in Germany. According to the company, it has already modernized two thirds of its locations. Most recently, stores in Hamburg, Heilbronn and Singen were newly opened or reopened.
